May 26 Kathmandu. Banks and financial institutions are not allowed to buy shares of microfinance institutions. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Tuesday issued a unified directive banning commercial banks, development banks and finance companies from buying shares of microfinance.
If the shares of microfinance have been bought by Monday (June 26, 2077 BS), it has been instructed to sell them by mid-December. This is the first time the NRB has imposed such a ban.
