Nepal has defeated Chinese Taipei 2-0 in the second round match of the joint selection of World Cup 2022 and Asian Cup 2023.
Anjan Bista and Navyug Shrestha scored goals for Nepal in the Group B match played at the Jaber Ahmed International Stadium in Kuwait. Anjan scored from the penalty spot in the third minute of the match to give Nepal the lead.
Nepal got a penalty after a Chinese Taipei player handled the ball in the penalty area and Anjan Bista made no mistake. Earlier, Anjan had scored both the goals in Nepal’s 2-0 win over Chinese Taipei in the 2019 selection match.
Nepal added a goal in the second half. Navayuga, who entered the field in the second half in place of Sunil Bal, scored a goal in the cross of Tribhuvan Army Football Club teammate Suman Aryal.
After the second victory in Group B, Nepal has added only 6 points from 6 games. Earlier, Nepal had added 3 points against Chinese Taipei. Nepal will now play against Jordan on June 7 and Australia on June 8.
